I have two gorgeous girls at secondary school. A husband who has just changed career paths, a lovely job in “marketing” and a little cafe in my local library – so there’s a lot going on ALL the time in my life!
Baking is my escape from everything. With a glass of red wine in hand, a spotlessly clean Cherry Red KitchenAid and a shelf full of cookery books I embark on baking adventures most evenings (after Eastenders of course!). So that explains the baking part of this blog and all the baking related events and activities I’m getting involved in.
So why the botanical? I used to own two flower shops and I still love flowers and plants. I am also obsessive about their nutritional values. I think it comes from having children and wanting to make sure I know exactly what is going into their perfect, little bodies and why.
For centuries people have used ingredients from across the botanical spectrum and the recipes in this blog are based on those I find appealing and tasty, or that are seasonal and interesting. I’ve tried to explain what I know about their nutritional values but please don’t just take my word for it as I’m not an expert*.
I hope you enjoy the recipes in my blog and are inspired to give some of the unusual ones a go. I’d love to hear from you and about how you get on so stay in touch!
Urvashi x
P.S – I’m also proud to be one of the 12 contestants on BBC 2’s The Great British Bake Off 🙂
